Water safety

Water Fun Day.

Water Fun Day

On a bright sunny Wednesday morning, Glenbrae had a water fun day.

For water fun day we had to wait until the bell rang so we could go outside and listen to all the rules and for where the classes are starting. The first activity my class and I did was called Spongebob square pants.

In this activity we got sponges. With the sponges we soak up some water then we pass it under our legs and then over our heads and we had to keep doing that until the sponge got to the person at the back of the line.

When the sponge got to the person at the back they had to run and go squeeze the water in their house bucket. I was first running and I’m also in Kauri/Green so I went and squeezed out the water from the sponge in the Kauri bucket.

The second activity my class and I went to was the swimming pool at the swimming pool. We got free time to play around and have fun but the one rule was to not bomb it was really fun and I enjoyed it.

The third one my class and I did was called holy moly. My teacher Mr. Nath was in this activity.

What we had to do is fill a cup with water that had holes in it and try to keep the water from falling out and then put the water in your house bucket. I only got a little bit of water in my house bucket but it was still very lots of fun.

The next activity we went to was called water-balloon.

In this activity, we had to pass the water balloons to each other than when it got to the back the person at the back had to pass it back to the person in the front and then they had to run I went second and got a lot of water into my house bucket.

The fifth one we went on was called Lava flow. It was very fun and it was also very tiring. We had to run up the hill to put our water in the bucket. It was a lot of fun and I loved it.

The last one my class and I went on was called water-slide. This activity was my favorite one. We had to wait in the line until it was our turn but it was worth it because we filled up some water in a cup and then we slid down the hill. It was very fun and soppy.

It was really fun doing the water fun day at my school. I enjoyed it a lot.

Maths

There are 8 pencils in a box.
AJ has 15 boxes of pencils.
How many pencils are there altogether?

15 x 8 =  ??

10 x 8 = 80

5 x 8 = 40

80 + 40 = 120

To solve this problem, I used place value
partitioning. I multiplied 10 by 8 and I got 80
as the answer. Then, I multiplied 5 by 8 and
I got 40 as the answer. Then I added 80 and 40
and I got 120. So AJ has 120 pencils
altogether.
