Treaty of Waitangi Discussion

In our discussion with Mrs Tofa we talked about the Treaty of Waitangi. The things we talked about was when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in the 1840’s and the freedom that the Maoris wanted.  

We also talked about genocide. We also learned that genocide means when someone takes the lifes of a large amount of people from a certain nation or ethnic group.

Another thing we also found out was that they couldn’t speak Te Reo in schools because it was against the rules. 

We also talked about how their language was suppressed by force and how they were finally recognized in 1980 as a culture and how they finally had a voice. 

Another thing we also found out is that it took them 140 years to be recognized as a culture and 32 years later they're still fighting the system for retribution.

NAME OF BOOK: SPARKS!

The story of the book is about a heroic robot dog that is controlled by two cats, Charlie the first cat is the pilot that controls the robot dog and the other cat August is the builder and his job is to finds where the trouble is, so he can let the pilot Charlie, know where to go, they also have a robotic litter box that can talk. 

The villains of the story are a baby and his parents but there's a twist, the baby control's the parents and when the baby gets angry at the parents she clicks a button that activates a shock wrist band that the parents are wearing. We find out that the baby is trying to build an army of animals so she can take over the world, so she puts herself in danger so an animal can come save her and then she will capture it.  When the heroic robot dog saved her she tried capturing it but failed. 

A bit deeper in the story Charlie and August get angry at each other because Charlie wants to stay back for a bit when they save the day so they can be noticed/famous, but Augusta doesn't want to be noticed/famous to keep there identity safe, they ended up getting angry at each other. Then there robotic litter box tries cheering them up with fun things to do but they wouldn't listen, then the litter box says "do you remember when you guys became friends." Then a flashback happens and it shows how Charlie and August became friends... .. .
