What I made for Morning Tea: French Toast

How I made French Toast: First I cracked 4 eggs then I stirred it, once I finish stirring it, I add black pepper, salt and mince leaves into the egg mixture and then I put the bread and coat it with the eggs mixture. Once I finish coating the bread in the egg mixture I go and fry it and then once I finish frying it I can start eating my French toast. So that is how I made my French toast.

4 - Eggs

Pepper & Salt

6 - Mince Leaves

How many you want - Bread

Trip to Snow Planet

The doors to the bus opened and we got out, we walked to the front of the building and sat down on the benches. We waited there for a bit and then went inside. They gave us Boots and Gloves and if you were cold you could rent some pants or jackets to keep you warm, once everybody was ready a lady that worked there took us into where all the snow was, everyone first went to the small snow slide where you had to go down using a toboggan then everyone went to the big snow slide and for the big one, you had to use a snow tube. I went on a snow tube that could fit two people in and me and my friend Taylor did it, we did it two times and then we decided to do it alone,  there was two big snow slide next to each other so Taylor and I had raced down them.

I enjoyed going to Snow Planet and I hope we do it again.

Mud run Trip

 Mud Run Trip

Bomp Bomp Bomp as all the contestants ran across the bridge onto the mud, I ran as quick as my feet could take me but then it came to a point where I had to slow down because there was so much mud if I ran I would slip and fall over into the mud. So I jogged through the mud and once I got to the dry side where there was grass I picked up the pace and caught up with my friend Wuatai we ran together for half of the race and then we saw some of our other classmates up on the hill we sprinted from the bottom of the hill up to them, then we went through obstacles and then boom we see people with cameras and phones taking videos and pictures. My mate Sione and I are behind some people while running to the finish line, then phooofff we gas it and beat everyone that was in front of us to the finish line. Standing there was Mrs. Forsyth and Soane when they saw us they started cheering and applauding us.

It was very fun and I wish to do it again one day.

The first settlers who came to New Zealand

The first settlers who came to New Zealand

Firstly the Maori were the first settlers who came to New Zealand. When the Europeans arrived, Maori were already settled in New Zealand so they were known as the first people to settle in New Zealand.

The Maori were the first settlers so they called themselves Tangata Whenua (People of the land).

In December 1642, the first European explorer arrived in New Zealand, known as Able Tasman, he came to New Zealand for an Expedition. He was given two small ships and a crew from the company he worked for, Dutch East India Company.

While in New Zealand Abel Tasman and his crew only encountered the Maori once and it ended badly with 4 of his crew members beaten and killed by the Maori.

Then another European explorer came to New Zealand in October 1769 known as James Cook, he came to New Zealand for a scientific expedition. James Cook also encountered the Maori once and it was very unsuccessful with some of the Maori dead.

It won't be another 127 years before the next encounter between the Maori and Europeans.

Pakeha kept coming to New Zealand and some even made the Maori mad and very unhappy, Maori couldn’t have peace because they kept getting disturbed.

Finally, the Maori could have peace they thought, while they signed the Treaty with the British on the 6th of February 1840, but the British kept making the Maori unhappy.

Then the New Zealand war started in 1845 and went for 27 years and ended in 1872 but even though the war is over, Maori are still fighting the system to this day for retribution.

Multicultural NZ/ Poem

Multicultural NZ

New Zealand, MMs mixed in a bowl

with colours that are bright

flags from different cultures fly like a kite

we also have animals called kiwis

 that come out at night

Our foods are nice

and as good as theirs

but when we eat we feel like millionaires

We’re fit as a treadmill

and fast as a bike and when we run

we feel the power we get from our niks

New Zealand is like yellow, red and green

all the colors in New Zealand make us keen

In New Zealand stormy days are the best

and when we feel the stormy breeze

 we’ll never be stressed

New Zealand is the best

Water Fun Day

I was walking slowly so I didn't lose the water in my cup, kids were running up and down the path, while I raced towards my house color bucket, I got there and spilled the water in the bucket then I turned around and ran back to where I started so the next person in my team could go. While I waited for my turn to come again I saw the other house’s running everywhere then I saw Soane running back with the cup, then he handed it to me and I filled it up with water and started walking to my house bucket and when I got back Mrs Kelly ringed the bell and we were off to the next game.

The next game we went to was the Waterslide, on the Waterslide we had to fill up the water and then slide down the Waterslide and run to our house bucket, when it was my turn I filled up the water and ran and slid down the slide, unfortunately, I hit my left foot and badly bruised it but I didn’t give up and I tried one more time and I ended up hitting it again and I bruised it a second time. I decided to sit out and watch because I couldn't move my foot and it badly hurt a lot.

When my class went to the next activity I went with them but I sat out and watched. In this activity they had to soak up the water by using the sponge and come to their house buckets and squeeze the water into the bucket.

While I was watching the houses, Mrs. Forsyth came and gave me a water gun, I started shooting people when they came to spill the water in their house bucket and I also shot some people from my house too.

Once the bell rang Room 7 and I went to the next activity in the pool I decided to join in because we had to find a partner and piggybank them to the wall and then come back. I was with Soane. He was piggybacking me so I didn’t need to run. We ended up losing but we still had fun because the teacher let us have free time in the pool.

The next activity we did was with Mr. Nath my foot was still sore but I still had a go at the activity. I couldn’t run so I hopped to my house bucket and back. I only had one go at it because my foot hurt so I sat down and kept watching.

When I sat down I asked, Mrs. Forsyth if I could say something to the speaker she accepted but told me not to say any bad words, when she gave the speaker to me I said “Let’s go Kauri, Let’s go Kauri, Let’s go Kauri” then she took the speaker off me and said don’t touch it again. (I think she said this because she in Kowhai)

The bell rang again and my class was on to the next activity. The activity was they had to run to the bucket and pop the water balloon and get all the water in the bucket. This activity was the last one so I stayed back at the house buckets and when my team came I started cheering for them.

The bell rang and it was over. It was time to see which house won the water fun day. Everyone sat at their house color groups and then said their chant one by one then we said ours and it was time for the teachers to announce who won. Then the teacher says, “The winner is Kauri” (MY GROUP) Then Soane starts saying our chant, and everyone in Kauri follows on with him and then the day is over.

I enjoyed the first Water Fun Day of 2021 and I had lots of fun. I am looking forward to the next water fun day.

Trip to the Ambury Farm

On Thursday 29 October Room 9 and Room 10 went to the Ambury Farm in Mangere.

It was fun and awesome because we got a chance to feed the goats, sheep, and cows.  We also saw how cows are milked. The cows were pet cows. Their names were Maggie and Fly.

We also watched  Karoline shear a sheep around the tail area to prevent all the poop from collecting on the fur.

We all got a chance of making butter from milk. After the butter was made, we tasted it. I learned a lot of things about animals at Ambury Farm that day and I hope I can go there again.

Back to school

Monday 18 May was the first day back to school from lockdown.

When I got to school, it was very different. The parents had to stay
in the hall for safety reasons, I couldn’t enter my classroom from the corridor.

I had to wait outside and then the teacher came and asked to stay a metre apart
from each other. Then he gave us hand sanitiser one at a time to sanitise our hands
before we went into the classroom. After that, I looked at the seating plan to
find out where I was sitting. When I saw where I was sitting, I went into the
classroom keeping my distance from the other kids and found my disk.
When I sat down I got my netbook out and did the work that was given to us.

As time passed, it was morning tea but this time instead of eating first we sanitised our
hands and went outside to play. While we were playing, a duty teacher made sure we
were keeping our distance.

After playtime, we went back to class to have morning tea. We had to wash our hands and
then sanitise it before eating. The deputy principal was there to supervise our morning
tea while our teacher was away in the staffroom having his morning tea. The DP told us to
keep our classroom and our environment clean and tidy.

When our Teacher Mr. Nath came back, our deputy principal said bye to us and she left. Then
we had a practice on how to assemble for home time. Ms.
Card called to class by class over the intercom and we had to go
out as we were called. We had to sanitise our hands before we
went. By the time we came back to class, it was lunchtime.
We put our bags away and went
out to play.

After lunch playtime, we had lunch in the classroom. After eating we washed our hands and
continued working individually. I completed my maths and then started working on my inquiry.
Then it was time for school to end. We waited for Ms. Card to call our class over the intercom.
When our class was called, we took our bags, sanitised our hands and walked to the hall to
wait for our siblings or collect our siblings in the Junior classes before our teacher took us
down to the gate. At the gate, we said goodbye to our friends and teachers and walked
home.
